After practicing in beautiful Marin County’s Mill Valley for over four years as a chiropractor and seven years as a massage therapist Dr. Fernandez was proud to return to Oakland in 2001 to serve her friends, family, and former neighbors in this wonderfully vibrant and diverse East Bay Area. In moving her practice to Oakland she has returned to serve her former home city.

 

Dr. Fernandez specializes in Chiropractic care for entire families, with special emphasis on health concerns of women and children. In addressing their unique health issues she brings her extensive background in neuromuscular and shiatsu massage to her practice. By using a very specific and successful full spine technique (called the “Gonstead” technique), she is able to help her patients not only achieve natural and rapid back and neck pain relief, but deal with the cause of many conditions - from headaches to chronic acid indigestion to ear infections in children! Once they receive the fast relief from their symptoms many continue with their chiropractic care in order to be the healthiest and most vibrant that they can be. Many simply enjoy chiropractic care as a means of preventing pain and other health problems – a “wellness” approach to healthcare. Dr. Fernandez counsels her patients on proper nutrition and exercise to complement their Chiropractic care and ensure lasting results while preventing future problems. Her health and wellness classes are always popular with patients and their friends and families.

 

In Marin County her commitment to her community was demonstrated in many ways:

The Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce elected her to their Board of Directors – she was described as “community-oriented and accomplished” in the Mill Valley Business Chamber newspaper. She was an active member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Marin, graduated from the San Rafael Leadership Institute, and was a Board member of the Latino Council of Marin. Dr. Fernandez also sat on the Leadership Mill Valley Advisory Council. She frequently coordinates benefits for non-profits and otherwise worthy causes at her office. In the last holiday food drive her wonderful patients donated over 700 pounds of food for the Alameda Food Bank! As a beacon of light, hope, and an incredible track record of success her Wellness Center attracts patients from as far away as Pacifica, Antioch, and Kentfield! Of course, her neighbors in the Temescal, Lake Merritt, Trestle Glen, Fruitvale, Dimond, and other Oakland areas as well as Piedmont, Berkeley, Emeryville, San Leandro, and other surrounding cities also find hope and healing at her office.

 

Her commitment to family and community is, in a very real sense, a global one. She has donated her personal and professional time along with a group of chiropractors that travel annually to donate free chiropractic care to thousands of people in need in the villages of El Salvador. In Marin’s Canal area she was a mentor and volunteer for years in a teen mentoring program.

 

Dr. Fernandez is married to her soulmate, Johnny Fernandez, a former public school educator who now teaches people how they can magnetize “The One” for them in his popular and fun workshops entitled “Find The One it CAN Be Done” (more info at www.MagnetizeTheOne.com). They are the proud parents of a brilliant, beautiful, strong, and healthy little girl.
