Combining many different healing modalites, Dr. McKenna offers a unique approach to helping individual’s achieve what they are looking for in their life with one’s physical body as both teacher and vehicle to this means. Originally trained as a massage therapist when he was 19 years old, he began the journey of understanding one’s body as both something structural, made of of many parts, and a window to so much more. Continued studies led to the completion of a chiropractic degree in 1996 and the infusion of chiropractic principles into his holistic approach to health and life.
At the core of his work with others is his dedication to self-exploration, both for himself and others, compassion and love and his deep desire to assist individuals with their suffering and pain at whatever level they are comfortable working and his powerful method of fascilitaing healing through awareness and acceptance in a non-threatening way with sound physiologic principles encourages profound and long-lasting change. Muscles testing is used as a reflex or feedback loop, if you will, to tap into that which our body is attempting to communicate, but is not clearly understood (no, pain is not a clear enough message) and to assist in figuring our what is “really” needed. This might be structural release, emotional release, nutritional support or often a combination of the three. With a simple new way to understand, relate to and work with one’s body, optimal health is not only obtainable, but sustainable. True empowerment is obtained when one understands the principles of self healing and works with others adjunctively rather than in a co-dependant fashion to achieve and maintain optimal functional health. His approach is comprehensive in that it takes into account one’s thoughts and biochemical makeup and how these are impacting the structural body.
Dr. McKenna has a practice in San Jose which he has had for the last four years. His father’s ailing health and desire to be with family brought him back to the Bay Area in 2000 after starting his chiropractic career in the Pacific Northwest. He has worked with thousands of individuals over the last ten years, in many different contexts, to assist them in achieving their full potential in all aspects of their lives, with emphasis on optimal physical functioning and pain elimination. He is recently married and lives with his wife and their dog in the redwoods of the Los Gatos Mountains between Santa Cruz and San Jose. His secret to optimal health is quite simple. Live life from a place of gratitude and love, be open to learning from that which you don’t understand or fear and expect great things to happen – always! And remember, we aren’t just our bodies, but our body is a physical manifestion of us, so treat it with respect and honor.
