Matthew Kurian & his family

From Homeless to Working to Support the Poor
I was born in a home of seven children, I was the 5th one so got choked... my dad was an irresponsible Alcoholic. I never experienced affection or never received any kind of stuff from him. When I was a teenager, I left the house and lived in the street like a tramp, got in to Drug abuse, was an Atheist, and at the age of 21 my life got changed by making a decision to follow Christ. At the age of 25, I went into a seminary to pursue a degree in Theology and decided to work for Alcoholics and Drug abusers.
I met a slum dweller at the age of 28 and he changed my thinking about life. I decided to work for the poor and that led me to start a charity, which gives a future and brings a smile for over 2000 children and hundreds of families.
I started a church which grew to nearly 1000 people, and continued opening many churches, my greatest passion is to develop people and work hard. I love to inspire people….

I want to build more
I am the founder and managing trustee of a charity called Elshaddai charitable trust. I am a Pastor; I oversee many churches, Run a Bible based leadership training center. I am a Trustee of another charity from Bangalore, and run a company on property development. I want to start many more things, we are building a village of elderly people one of first kind in Goa, starting a hospice for terminally ill children first one in this part of India, the building work is half completed. Want to start a full-fledged hospital for the poor. My list can go on. I love to dream and Plan. It’s exciting…

What I have learned—be good to others
I’ve learned to be of no malice to anyone. Life is too busy to be hurt by anyone, it is too short to sit and worry…. Let people do what they want; you make sure that you do what you want. Don’t allow others to have the remote control of your future or emotions; no one should decide when you should be sad or happy… Live for a laugh, it is not worth live in this planet without laughing, I want to laugh everyday… if you laugh enough then no one will laugh at you… smile always God smiles at you because you are made in His image….

My advice to others-- work hard then you will learn to work smart
Work hard, never retaliate to any one for their mistakes, you will be doing bigger ones than theirs. No revenge only forgiveness, keep a clean fresh heart to everyone. Forget the pain of the past but never forget learning from the past, work hard then you will learn to work smart, once you learn to work smart no one can defeat you.
